Justice League is by no means the worst DC hero movie but that's not saying much when the competition includes Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman. The plot is unoriginal, the character aren't particularly engaging, and it's peppered with boring, overused jokes ("but seriously guys, what is BRUNCH"). The comedic timing is off and it honestly feels like this movie was written in the early 00s - before Marvel elevated the super-hero movie game.
It's no surprise really that Wonder Woman is the best part of the movie - she's smart, strong, and totally badass - but there are only a few scenes that highlight the uniqueness of her character. It feels like the filmmakers were torn between wanting to capitalize on her popularity and wanting to objectify her. A large handful of "jokes" are aimed at her femininity and any time the team is assembled there's some sort of comment revolving around her female-ness as if the super-hero boys club can't handle having a woman amongst their ranks. And there's a creepy, failed, one-sided attempt to initiate a Batman-Wonder Woman romance subplot...
If I could take back the hours spent watching Justice League and use them to re-watch Wonder Woman, I would. The latest DC installment relies on unoriginal and outdated comedy and tends towards objectification of the most badass member of its ranks. Sorry DC, didn't anyone tell you objectification just isn't trendy anymore?
